This list shows emergency shelters in Tampa Bay Counties that could be opened during an evacuation. Shelter status will be updated regularly when an evacuation is ordered. Hillsborough County

  • These shelters are intended to provide immediate protection and save the lives of those in the path of a catastrophic and deadly storm. Shelter openings may vary with each emergency. 

Pinellas County

  • This list shows emergency shelters in Pinellas County that could be opened during an evacuation. Shelter status will be updated regularly when an evacuation is ordered. Please note that not all shelters open for every situation.

Pasco County

  • According to the county, officials will be announcing if any shelters are opened and where they are located. All county shelters accept pets.
  • If you or a family member has disabilities or health troubles, you’ll want to register with the county’s emergency management team. Click here to learn more information if this applies to you. 
  • You can sign up for the county’s emergency notification system to ensure you’re getting the latest information by clicking here.

polk County

  • Click below to see  potential public shelter locations that may become available during an emergency. Please do not proceed to any shelter until you have confirmed that it is open and operating.
  • For information about pet-friendly shelters, call the Emergency Management office at (863) 298-7000.
  •  Residents with special needs assistance can find help here.

Citrus County

  • If you must evacuate your home, the best place to stay is with family or friends who live outside of the impact area. If that’s not an option, shelters can also provide a safe place to ride out the storm or disaster.
  • Special needs shelters are opened during emergency events for residents with specific health and medical conditions and those requiring transportation assistance. The Special Needs Program helps to provide assistance in sheltering, evacuation, and transportation for registered residents during times of disaster with the resources available within Citrus County. Sarasota County

  • In the event of a hurricane watch, Sarasota County will open all evacuation centers at the same time. 
  • Hurricane evacuation centers are not hotels and will not be able to provide any conveniences or luxuries. You will have no privacy, limited space approximately 20 square feet per person within a family with six feet of separation between families in a public classroom or hallway, and meal service may be delayed. Evacuation centers cannot provide bedding, cots or blankets.
